SATB,
piano, tenor recorder (C instrument), opt. wind chime (1998) -
(Kjos #8891) - Advent, Christmas, Communion
My
setting of the well-known French tune, Picardy, (Let All Mortal
Flesh Keep Silence, #198 in the Lutheran Book of Worship) originated
during my days as choir director at Lutheran Church of Christ the Redeemer
in Minneapolis, and was accompanied by piano, oboe, and a small wind chime.
This anthem was published in 1998 while I was organist at Nativity Lutheran
Church in St. Anthony, Minnesota, where I shared many wonderful musical
collaborations with David Livingston, my friend and colleague, as well
as recorder player extraordinaire. This piece has been used widely in
both Advent and Christmas services, and also makes a nice communion anthem.
The recorder part may be played on flute, oboe, or other C instrument.
